Journaliste en Danger is an independent and impartial organization created in Kinshasa by a group of Congolese journalists (DRC) and dedicated to the defense and the promotion of the press freedom first in DRC and then, since May 2003, in eight other countries of Central Africa covered by OMAC (Organization of medias in Central Africa) whose the headquarter is based in Bujumbura, the capital city of Burundi. Those eight other countries covered by JED are as follows: Burundi, Cameroon, Congo/Brazzaville, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Centrafrican Republic, Rwanda and Chad.

Africa Free Media Trust (AFMT) formerly known as Network for the Defence of Independent Media in Africa (NDIMA) was founded in 1992 in Harare, Zimbabwe by writers and artists to lobby and promote human rights and freedom of expression. The Kenya government of the day denied it registration under NDIMA until September 2007 when it was registered as a trust. AFMT is keen to scale up its advocacy activities to promote social protection among children and other vulnerable citizens of our beloved nation Kenya.

The Center for Media Studies and Peace Building (CEMESP) was legally established on October 24, 2003 in response to the challenges confronting professional media practice and free speech as a result of years of conflict in Liberia and the ongoing peace processes. Its primary objectives at inception were to strengthen the work of media professionals and human rights organizations and thereby enhance peace building efforts through the development of the capacities of these two key sectors to understand, anticipate and forecast conflicts as well as develop and plan holistic solutions to such conflicts. Registered under Liberian laws through articles of incorporation and by-laws, the operations of CEMESP are run from its secretariat which is led by an Executive Director and supervised by a governing board of eight members, which meets annually to chart the policy direction of CEMESP.

The Forum for African Investigative Reporters (FAIR) is a professional association of investigative journalists in Africa. Its mission is to enhance, deepen and build investigative journalism as a profession throughout the continent. FAIR was established in May 2003 by 15 investigative journalists from six African countries on the basis of the awareness that, firstly, investigative journalists have a vital role to play to enhance the African public’s right to information about all matters of social development and social justice; and, secondly, that African investigative journalists at present face many obstacles, ranging from lack of encouragement and low pay to life-threatening situations. FAIR was established to help investigative journalists help and support each other in order to overcome these obstacles.

HRNJ-Uganda was established in 2005 by a group of human rights journalists who had developed a sense of activism and was formally registered as an independent media group, non-profit and non-partisan organisation in 2006. The identity of HRNJ-Uganda lies with its diverse membership of over 200 human rights journalists from both print and electronic media and freelance investigative journalists. HRNJ-Uganda intends to work towards an informed and respectful society of human rights which is free from abuse and aims to enhance the promotion, protection and respect of human rights through defending and building capacities of journalists to effectively exercise their constitutional rights and fundamental freedoms for collective campaigning through the media.

KalimaDZ is an on-line free radio and new magazine. Forbidden in Algeria, the website has been censored and the satellite connection suspended under the pressure of the Algerian Government in March 2010. KalimaDZ works in collaboration with Algerian and international human rights organizations. Composed of a team of independent journalists based in Algeria, or in exile, KalimaDZ raises the voice of human rights activists, of independent syndicates that claim a more dignified life, of citizens who denounce corruption, of independent journalists, of NGOs working to address daily challenges, and of victims of wrongdoing that could not avail themselves of public media.

Arab Reporters for Investigative Journalism (ARIJ) |

Arab Reporters for Investigative Journalism (ARIJ) is the first and only non-profit organization in the region dedicated to promoting investigative journalism in Arab newsrooms, still an alien practice.
The Amman-based ARIJ was formed in early 2005 to support independent quality professional journalism, through funding in-depth journalism projects, and offering media coaching. It helps journalists working in print, radio, tv and on-line media in Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, Iraq, Bahrain, Palestine, Yemen and Tunisia.
ARIJ support journalists and editors to conceive an idea, research, write, edit and publish professional investigative journalism reports. The final results of the investigative projects are published in participants’ respective media organizations, and posted on the website of ARIJ along with relevant documents, a diary of both the reporter and the coach to help share the knowledge with other Arab journalists and media students.

JFO is an independent non-profit organization established in 2004 by journalists and lawyers in Iraq that deals with advocating the rights and freedoms of journalists and observing the violations against them. It works in partnership with Reporters Without Borders (RSF), the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), Article 19, UNISCO, Open society institute (OSI), IWPR, Media Legal Defense Initiative (MLDI), and other human rights and legal organizations. It protects the freedom of expression and makes statistics related to the media fields. JFO is active now in to main offices, the main in Baghdad while the second office in Kurdistan region, JFO is not only announces denouncements against the violations, but also asks for taking practical measures to stop and end them; it uses legal experts to sue the violators regardless of their ranks or backgrounds (we try to expand our activity to include the regional areas). It aims at deepening the culture of freedom in the media outlets and concentrating on the idea of "free expression". It deals with announcing the importance of protecting journalists that work in the areas of tension. It seeks to train journalists and media workers to observe all kinds of violations.

The Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms (MADA) was established in 2006 to support the journalists in the territories who continue to face numerous oppressive constraints in their fight for freedom of expression. Rural Media Network Pakistan (RMNP) was established in 2004 and registered as a non-profit organization with the object of assisting the development of independent rural media in Pakistan. RMNP regularly organizes training programmes and seminars in rural centres which address the issues facing the Pakistani media. In particular RMNP has worked for the improvement of professional skills, and to raise rural journalists awareness of professional, social, political, and human rights issues, including those related to the environment. RMNP has also instituted an annual Sadiq Press Freedom Award to recognize courage and professional commitment by journalists and media organizations in Pakistan TV.RMNP is the only organisation in rural Pakistan which is keeping contact with the international press freedom organisations to promote initiatives that stress the importance of press freedom for democracy and individual and collective liberties. RMNP is active in reporting and publicising crimes against communication professionals in rural Pakistan, and elsewhere. RMNP's objectives are firmly based on the concept of a pluralistic and independent media. RMNP foresees a Pakistan where the media has the freedom and capacity to reflect the realities of society accurately and in a manner that captivates the interest of its readers, listeners and viewers.

The Tunisian Center for Freedom of Press - Centre de la Tunisie pour la Liberté de la Presse (CTPJ) was established after the Tunisian revolution as an extension to the Tunisian Committee to Protect the Journalist which was founded in 2009. It works mainly on defending the freedom of press and advocacy for the freedom of expression under the rule of Ben-Ali.
The CTLP (French acronym) is working on three main points:
- Documentation any violation on freedom of press and freedom of journalists
- Capacity building to the journalists on the profession ethics targeting the youth working away from the capital
- Suggestion new laws or drafts to improve the legal frame of freedom of expression in Tunisia after the revaluation
The center is working closely with international organizations working on defending freedom of expression such as, Gmedia Center, IFEX, RSF, IMS, AMARC and others.

Peace Correspondent is a non-profit, apolitical and self-supporting journalistic initiative formed by a group of people interested in offering a different view of the world around us. Thus, in a world in which violence has become the norm, peace is the exception; peace is the most newsworthy news. Press and Society Institute (IPYS), is a society of journalists based in Lima (Perú) that promotes freedom of the press, the access to public information and investigative journalism. In order to achieve this it prepares situation reports in several Latin American countries, carries out specialized investigations and promotes the debate about the role of the media. It is a society with no commitments to unions, or business, political or ideological groups. IPYS reacts against limitations, aggressions or attacks against the press or freedom of expression. In May 2000, the International Press Institute (IPI) honored IPYS with the Free Media Pioneer Award because of the effectiveness of its protection networks. IPYS is a member of the Reporters without Borders Network and the International Council of the International Freedom of Expression Exchange (IFEX), based in Canada.

The Management Centre, with partial financial support of the European Union has completed the Independent Media Centre project which has been in operation since 1 April 2009, and organized conferences, workshops and training sessions to improve the relationship between NGOs and the media to allow for civil society organizations to take part in the media more effectively.
The Independent Media Centre project which will strengthen the relations between the Turkish Cypriot media and the Turkish Cypriot Civil Society Organizations covers a period of 22 months. Independent Media Center has created an on-line News Agency Portal to fulfill its main purpose of making way for news from the perspective of the civil society. The on-line News Agency Portal which will be accessible to the Turkish Cypriot media is currently broadcasting the trial. This on-line news agency portal will become more active with the participation of non-governmental organizations, media representatives and independent media experts. During this project, the Turkish Cypriot Media will find the opportunity to get to know civil societies more closely and develop stronger relationships with these civil societies and will contribute to democratic journalism by broadcasting news with a civil society perspective.
